Another day, another secret santa soap. Today I used the Elvado Lake of the Woods soap. This is my first Elvado experience. The soap/cream comes in a large tin and is a dense shaving cream (or soft shaving soap, however you want to describe it). The scent is a bit subtle (it does jump up once lathered) and made a lather less dense than my favourite soaps. Scent profile wise, this wasn’t my favourite. Elvado describes it as a fresh scent of forest rain with woody notes of fir needle and jasmine oils. I’d say that is pretty accurate. If you like the pine scent profile, I’m sure you will like this one. It is subtle enough to not overwhelm but pronounced enough you know what it is. What I can’t complain about was the performance. While the lather wasn’t as dense as I’m used to, it was plenty slick and had more than enough cushion. I got a fantastic shave, no irritation, super smooth.

I closed off the shave with my Soapy Bathman Lumberjack balm. It paired nicely due to the woodsy nature but it fits my scent profile a bit more with the sweet notes that come along with it. I’m sure happy I grabbed this CWS exclusive while it was available (ya, I grabbed the matching soap too).
