Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: Tiger Red Blades
Brush: Yaqi Synthetic
Soap: Mason Boutique Teakwood Leather Mahogony
Aftershave: Like Grandpa Balm
Other: Thirsty Badger lather bowl

I can’t remember where I saw these blades (and small review) online but they peaked my interest. They were reviewed well, looked kinda cool and I hadn’t seen them anywhere. So hopped on the bay and ordered up a few. When they showed up the other day I couldn’t wait to try them. For me, a giant letdown. I gave them a try yesterday and the first pass was very uncomfortable (Rockwell on 3). Second pass and 3rd were so-so. On the chance I had a bad blade or bad lather I wanted to give it a try again today in a SOTD. I pulled my Gillette Tech as I find it is mild and a perfect tester. Again, I found the blade tugging and pulling on the pass. I completed 1/2 a pass and pulled out a Rapira for the other cheek to compare. It was night and day. Smooth as silk. Maybe it was a bad blade, so I pulled out a new Tiger for the second pass. Better than the first but still a bit of tugging for the 1/2 pass, back to the Rapira to finish…. smooth as silk. I’ll give the Tiger another try in a week or two to see if 3rd time is a charm, but for now my hopes aren’t up. If you do want to try some, message me and I’ll get you a tuck for the price of shipping it to you. Maybe you will like them better than I.

Anyways, enough about the blade. It was a wood kinda day. Teakwood, Mahogany and Sandalwood. A fine pairing. I really like this Mason Boutique offering, a nice manly scent that isn’t too strong and isn’t too cologne like. It makes me sad that they aren’t making any more. The Yaqi synthetic was great, although I find the handle a bit fat for my liking. Finished with my go to Like Grandpa Balm to salvage a great shave. I plan on putting this lather bowl up for sale soon (I’ve test lathered a couple times now, I do with all products I plan to sell) and I’m going to be sad to see it go. It is sooooo comfortable to hold. At first I wasn’t sure about the thumb handle but it was a big win. I think future designs may have to include a few like this.

Have a great day all!
