I’ve been jonesing on A&E/Club shaving products of late. The base is fantastic and the scents I’ve tried are nice and strong. They have been big winners for me. So when I see a bargain on an A&E/Club product I tend to pick it up. That was the case on this Barbershop offering that I picked up from the Canadian Wet Shavers group on Facebook.
This Barbershop is a little different than the typical A&E/Club products I’ve tried in that the scent isn’t bold and in your face. The scent is well balanced and would be medium strength off the puck and lathered. Scent notes are Pink Pepper, bergamot, lavender, violet leaf, tonka bean, vanilla, leather, amber, sandalwood, cedarwood, musk and oakmoss. It is a really nice, subtle blend. You get nice subtle citrus of the bergamot, a subtle floural of lavender, a subtle sweetness of vanilla with the masculine touches of tonka, leather, amber and sandalwood. All subtle but still wonderful. You could wear this without worry on a work day and in fact I expect it will become a regular use because of that fact.
Performance was fantastic as always, which was needed with this vintage Gem Jr Bar razor. This razor I find I need to take my time with. There is a bit of blade exposure so it you rush, you will cut yourself. Across and against the grain with this takes some care or you will get some irritation. Took my time, no pressure, ride the cap and I was able to get a nice clean shave. Not my favourite performing razor but it has so much history and looks fantastic, how can you not want to shave with it?
