Friday off. One of my favourite things. And today I had some extra time on my hands sitting around waiting on the telco to come upgrade my internet (yay fibre!). Sounds like a great time to do a Friday SOTD post.

I recently picked up a few new samples of Stirling Soaps (Thanks Canadian Beard and Blade). This one jumped out at me from the moment I opened it. I am a sucker for a good Patchouli scent and this one fits the bill. The scent is modelled after a music festival in the UK. Patchouli, Lavender, Oakmoss, Lichen, Frankincense, and Vetiver. When I ordered I was a bit nervous reading “this soap will put you in the middle of a field with a soft, grassy breeze blowing while Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page engage in an epic guitar battle in the background”. I sure hope this isn’t a pot smoking hippy scent. haha. It definitely is not. It is a patchouli forward scent with the lavender in the background toning it down. I really liked it.

Performance wise, I’m a big fan of Stirling Soap Company. What isn’t to love about them? Price point is really fantastic. Scent wise, they have a huge variety. They offer smaller 1oz sample pucks enabling you to try a bunch of scents so you can find your favourite. They look great and have really nice matching balms and splashes. Performance wise, they are very good. There are higher end soaps that will get a touch better, but really this still gives great slickness, cushion and post-shave. It is easy to load and lather in all kinds of water. It is a very approachable product line, it is one of the first lines I recommend when talking wet-shaving with someone new. There will be a scent you love and the performance will be great. If you don’t have a green tub in your den, do yourself a favour and add one.

I didn’t have a matching splash today but I do have a fantastic Patchouli forward aftershave I love, Voyageur from Longrifle. Simple yet masculine with Patchouli, Sandalwood and Oakmoss. A fantastic scent. An all around great Friday shave.
