Razor: Karve CB on C
Brush: Spiffo Two Band
Soap: First Canadian Shave Maximo Gomez
Aftershave: First Canadian Shave Maximo Gomez splash

Something old and something new from First Canadian Shave today.  I’ve had this old formula version of Maximo Gomez for a while.  It was the first FCSS addition to my den and I really like the scent.  Citrus, tobacco, vetiver and patchouli.  With pretty much all the FCSS soap in the original formula I find the citrus/lime note to be quite forward.  It tended to make the scents smell quite similar but in the Maximo Gomez, it fits just right.  Performance of this formula is really good.  It is quite thirsty but once you dial in the water content you are rewarded with a nice dense lather, lots of protection and slickness.

Recently (when Randy took over FCSS) the formula of the base changed (I’m hearing a v3 formula is in the works now too) and he launched a matching line of aftershaves.  I knew I had to get a matching splash for this soap.  I can say the scent is really good, not as lime forward.  Quality product, I like it a lot.  It is witch hazel based and alcohol free so you shouldn’t get any burn and your skin is left nice and hydrated.

Today’s brush is a masterpiece of the Canadian brush-maker Spiffo!  I love this brush, my favourite badger in the den.  It performs well, just a little bit of scritch while I continue to break it in.  It just jump glows in the shave den.  I highly recommend giving them a look.  (In fact, keep following along and you might find an amazing way to get your own *hint hint*)

A fantastic shave for the day.
