Day 7 of #7DaysofBarbershop. Today I’m finishing off the week in style with a Canadian shave using one of my favourite Barbershop scents. This offering is a very unique barbershop with notes of Bay Rum, Sandalwood and Patchouli. This has a nice vanilla style sweetness with a powdery soft sandalwood base. The Patchouli just adds that touch of earthiness. It is an incredibly well blended and unique scent. Scent is mid-strong, just right.

Highland Springs currently reigns supreme in my den in the category of vegan base. It is hard to believe this is vegan given how it performs. This soft soap (or heavy cream if you so choose) loads and lathers very easily. The properly dialed in lather looks and feels like the high end tallow/milk formulations. It is lower volume, rich/buttery and has a high sheen. Cushion is excellent, as is slickness. Post shave is also fantastic. This soap base gets high marks across the board and is worthy of a place in any shave den. The matching post shave is also a big win. This witch hazel based splash carries the scent perfectly and performs extremely well. There is a nice amount of skin food inside that leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated.

A great set of software from a Canadian artisan just reminded me how many great Canadian products there are. As such I grabbed a few Canadian made hardware items for today’s shave. The Thirsty Badger lather bowl, well we sure like them so I hope you do to 🙂 The razor, a Rockwell 6s, is a fantastic shaver that could be the only razor in my den and I wouldn’t miss a beat. And the brush, a Paragon Plisson Synthetic is still my favourite synthetic brush in the den. This large knot whips up a lather like no ones business and the handle shape is extremely comfortable in the hand. Us Canadians need to take a bow, we are doing great work 🙂

Thanks to everyone for following along in my Barbershop week. It was nice to see some other SOTDs posted with some great Barbershop items, a few of which I’ve yet to try. Goals for the future 🙂 All for now – J
