Tis the season for Halloween-scented soaps! Honestly, I’ve never been a seasonal-theme guy when it comes to soaps. If I like a scent I’ll use it whenever I see fit. It does look a bit strange to be throwing out SOTD photos with pumpkins, skeletons, corpses and zombies in the first week of May though. That is why I have a few sets that while they do get used throughout the year, then generally don’t make the SOTD photos until their season hits. This is one such set. I picked this set up a few months ago and have really been digging it, so I was looking forward to being able to highlight it. The eve of Halloween seemed like a pretty fitting time.
Jack features scent notes of pumpkin-spiced bourbon, scotch, sandalwood and oakmoss. It is a fantastic scent. This is a very boozy and spicey take on a pumpkin scent. It has a bit of vanilla sweetness that I assume is coming from the bourbon. There is almost a cookie-type vibe going on here. A boozy sweet pumpkin spiced cookie. Man is it good. Scent strength on this is about a medium. Honestly, if there was an EDT of this I could totally wear it this time of year. I love it. This is in the First Canadian buffalo milk base which still sits near the top of soap bases for me. It loads and lathers very easily and is fantastic by all metrics, the perfect balance of performance and ease of use. The splash is alcohol-free but still carries the scent nicely and feels great on the skin.
For the razor today I used my Rex Envoy. This razor has the best knurling of any razor I’ve used. I love the grippy feel. The entire razor has fantastic build quality. It does lean on the aggressive side but I find paired with the smooth Gillette 7 O’Clock Yellow blades I am getting very comfortable and efficient shaves with it. I don’t reach for it often enough because I really enjoy the shaves whenever I do.
