#samplesaturday Up today is a sample recommended to me by Jonathan over at Stonefield Shaving Company. This offering from PSHE (yes Linda, you are getting your own acronym) is in the beef tallow base. I love the sample pucks from her, they are a generous size and with a reasonable amount of force they can be flattened into a container to get you many great shaves. I can see myself sampling many more scents in the future so I can pick favourites for full tub acquisitions.

This particular soap also has menthol in the base. Scent is sweet cedar branches, dry wood, earthy patchouli & sandalwood. This instantly evokes home in Northern Saskatchewan, stepping out of the cabin into the crisp winter North forest air. I’m a big fan. The menthol in this is on point as well, not kick you in the face like many of the heavy menthol products, but more than the subtle menthol I find in others. The coolness built during the entire shave without making the eyes water. I loved it! The base itself, I ended up over-hydrating a touch so it took a bit more effort to get it dialed back in, but once there, I got a really nice shave. No complaints. I can see a full tub of this hitting the den in the future.

I can also say with confidence that this Yaqi Mellon is now my favourite razor. It isn’t the best razor I have, but I just really enjoy shaving with it. Feedback, weight, mid aggressiveness, it just feels great to shave with. There is no doubt that I grab this razor the most of the ones in my den. Goes to show you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to get a damn fine shave.

Have a great weekend all!
